Warren Ellis Movie Card ID 2 by PaulSizer Warren Ellis Movie Card ID 2 by PaulSizer
Warren Ellis asked me to create a week's worth of these fake "movie title cards" to use as daily station IDs for his website.

I'd been messing around with some type and PhotoShop effects to get the appearance of an old style typographic title card that would have appeared in an old movie trailer from the 1930's/1940's era, working to make it appear a bit over-exposed like an old decaying print of the film. If these were animated, the words would appear in dramatic wipes, with orchestral stabs timed along for effect.

Given Ellis' penchant for being the hard writing/hard drinking writer model, I chose the theme of the week's worth of cards and came up with all the phrases myself. I'll release them to DeviantArt as he posts them.

Hell yeah. Still wish we could have done something on that Iron Man cover; that would have kicked ass. Send me an email (paul@paulsizer.com) and let's talk more if you have a project in mind. I'm always open to working with smart artists like you.

Hey Sam, thanks for the nice words.
I took a look at your gallery. Good starting work for a portfolio. If this is something you are interested in doing more of, I would suggest investing in a small scanner to scan your work for posting; it will make it easier for people to see.
Also think about taking your work in pencil further along, with some inking and possibly color. These will help make the work more complete and more professional.

Good luck, and thanks again for the feedback!
Paul

Hey Paul! At first, thank you for this real konstructive comment!
And yes Iam interessted in doing more of this.
I will think of a scanner until Xmas maybe my Mum (haha) could use it as my present.
Unfortunetly Iam unexperienced at Coloring, Ive often tried but it never came out good.
I would need some help but I dont know one who is good at coloring.

Thank you too Paul! Have a nice week.
Sam
