I really love this piece - not just for the character design (which is wonderful - the "grease, sweat and ginger" line below fits perfectly!), but for the environment behind her as well. You really nailed that open-air-yet-slightly-grimy feel of a working seaport. The two elements are blended together wonderfully.
Out of curiosity, are you planning on entering this in
's "Fantasy Firsts" contest? There is a shortage of dark-skinned steampunkers (or is the Miss Sakamoto a diesel?) in the world, and I think this pic would fit in wonderfully.
