REMAKE: SkyRocket Steele by PaulSizer REMAKE: SkyRocket Steele by PaulSizer
After a short hiatus, the REMAKE/REMODEL thread is active at Whitechapel. Here's this week's challenge:

"Skyrocket Steele was a hero in the year X. He was assisted by Sari Marston and Invex the Invisible Man. His nemesis was Vance Roy.
Skyrocket Steele was the first character created by Bill Everett (the guy who created the Sub Mariner."

So here's my take on it:
In another world...
"Skyrocket" Steele, the most highly decorated pilot of the French Negro Air Corps of 1923. His daughter Sari served as his mechanic, and the corps were funded by the "invisible" Invex Corporation, a secret group of investors.

Really cool! I see you've been experimenting with a more reduced, angular style. And I always love your take on historical re-imaginings. They're refreshingly... colourful :)

I've always enjoyed your Remakes/Remodels at the Whitechapel Forum, but I never realized you were here!

Yup, and your stuff just kills me; so much great rendering and color and design. Really great to see so much balance in someone's work. Thanks for the nice words!

Reminded me of Russel from the band Gorrilaz when I first noticed it. But nonetheless, the man looks ready to kick some ass.

I love the work of Jamie Hewlett, so the comparison is fine by me! Thanks.

You're welcome! Also, I got offered a position to lead the design in a graphic novel!

What do you mean "Lead the design" exactly. Are you doing the graphic design/typography of the book's layout, or are you designing the characters? Either way, congrats!

Graphic Design and Typography. The book itself has everything there, but I get to design everything in terms of scene layouts, graphic representation, everything. And thank you! It's not often someone makes your dreams come true when you're sixteen!

Is this book being produced by a local person, or from a larger publisher?

Larger publisher. They're no one big like Dark Horse or anyone, but hey, they're still a publisher!

Now this says Sizer. You got that art deco poster style, the texturing, an urban vibe, love it!
