David Lynch's SPIDER MAN 1 by PaulSizer David Lynch's SPIDER MAN 1 by PaulSizer
POSTER 1of 2

A very interesting Whitechapel challenge this week, re-named an ALTERNATE WORLD REMAKE. Here's the brief:

"INSTRUCTIONS:

You must design a poster for a movie called SPIDER-MAN directed by David Lynch. This is all you know.

That's it. You have one week. Begin. "

For those who may not know, David Lynch is the visionary film director behind such weird classics as ERASERHEAD, DUNE, BLUE VELVET and the popular TV series TWIN PEAKS. He is great at making very good and very weird films, so his take on Spider-Man would be..well, off center to be certain.

I wanted to keep things somewhat old school, so the images and shadows in the background are a cut out paper stencils with a flashlight shined through and photographed.

Spider-Man is İMarvel Comics

I wish Lynch did a Spider-Man as incredibly weird as his Eraserhead. Great work on the typo!!!

Whitechapel is a web forum/community run by comic writer Warren Ellis as an offshoot of the FREAKANGELS webcomic he produces with artist Paul Duffield. Ellis has written tons of comics for nearly every major comic company, and he wrote the graphic novel that eventually became the motion picture RED.

You have to sign up to post on Whitechapel, but here's the link to the David Lynch SPIDERMAN remake thread that you should be able to view without having the sign up: [link]

Hey, Paul. Great seeing your poster on today's FIRSTSHOWING.NET. As it turns out, the guy who started FIRSTSHOWING.NET started it here in Colorado Springs a couple of years ago, soon after we moved here ourselves to be close to grandkids. Great looking poster, and congratulations on its appearance here. Mike

Thanks! It's been funny seeing this current meme get so much cross-posting, some of it even wondering if the David Lynch/Spider Man film is really a news item!
