Thanks, Diello. I do all my inking digitally in MangaStudio EX 3.0, the program that proved to me one could ink digitally, speaking as one who learned to ink using a brush and bottle of ink.
Well, you've convinced me to give it a try. Does it just... seek out the drawn lines and do it automatically? My mind cannot fathom this phenomenon, heh. I'm still inking with pens.
Nope. MangaStudio is a complex program and professional grade program that I describe as PhotoShop and Illustrator combined for the express purpose of all aspects of making black and white comics. Inking is just one of the tasks that can be done in MangaStudio.
When I say I'm inking in MangaStudio, I'm sitting at the computer with my Wacom tablet and using MangaStudio's inking brushes and pens, which translate the strokes into various types and textures of lines, depending on the type of digital "brush" or "pen" I choose. If you've ever monkeyed around with paintbrushes in PhotoShop, same thing, just a lot more precise and styled to act like real brushes and nib ink pens. My love of MangaStudio is that it allows the lines to taper to a super sharp point, just like I always wish they would when I ink with my favorite Raphael brush. It, along with the hard rubber nibs for the Wacom stylus, makes it feel like I'm inking with my favorite brush, but with 20 levels of undo!
Hope I didn't make it sound too complicated, it's really pretty intuitive. I am still learning it, but the inking capabilities alone have won it a place in my art heart.
Also, I love this! And I love the Hell version, too! You really know how to colour
