Construct The Future Poster by PaulSizer Construct The Future Poster by PaulSizer
Well, 2010 has been a great year for me, and I wanted to actually get my butt around and do a holiday card for everyone, and this is what came out. I woke up in a Constructivist type mood this morning, and wanted to share a message of building on the past to move into the future.

So happy holidays everyone, from Sizer Design + Illustration, and me, Paul Sizer, who IS Sizer Design + Illustration.
And thanks to everyone who has taken the time to watch, comment, fave, collect, purchase, and critique all the junk I've posted here. Big hugs to everyone.

Type/Design: Freehand MX
FX: PhotoShop CS2

This poster design is ŠPaul Sizer/Sizer Design + Illustration, and may not be used without permission.

Your poster inspired me to create my own one against German neo-nazis: [link]
I hope you don't mind the similarity to your poster. I just thought the cogweels perfectly illustrate the machinery of death which the nazis pushed on so destructively.

this is a wonderful piece, love how the words flow, beautiful photography, but i was wondering; how did u create such a wonderful aging paper effect?
Reply
:iconpaulsizer:
PaulSizer Featured By Owner Mar 11, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
Thank you. The aged paper effect is just a scan of old decayed paper on a layer placed under the poster in PhotoShop. The poster layer is then set to "Multiply" to allow the paper texture to show through.

Very dynamic. nice job with the colors, usually red is overwhelming, but this is really nice.

Thanks much. Color just needs to be given something pertinent to do; usually when it seems overwhelming, the color has nothing to accomplish in the design/composition.

Well I can honestly say I've never seen a Holiday card like this one! Very nice dynamic layout you've created here! If you don't mind me asking, how do you get such exciting textures for the background?

Thanks much, glad you found it unique!
The exciting textures that you see are just custom PhotoShop texture brushes, in combination with a scan of a very old piece of parchment to get that old poster feel. Nothing too fancy!

I'm italian, not russian mate. Don't worry.
But please don't call me Mario (bros).

Btw, great constructivist poster.

Constructivism is my second favourite art movement behind surrealism.

Thanks! I knew you weren't Russian. I was just worried about exposing my incredibly limited skills outside of my own language! : ) All my "international language skills" come from Sesame Street and comic books.

I'm not so "poly-language", don't worry.
My international language skills" come from hotel school and hotel work done years ago.
But now I'm out of that field (for the love of god...)

And so I've forgotten francois und deutsch...
