This poster design was commissioned by Thom B. from LASTWEAR, who saw my "KICK THEIR AXIS" poster and decided to ask if I could create a poster for his clothing and costuming company.
Thom contacted me and asked if I would be interested in doing a retro-propaganda poster for his AMBER GUARD. When I saw the incredibly cool designs, I said "HELL YES!"
"Lastwear is part of a larger storytelling and free culture project called Last that I started a couple of years ago and have been developing ever since. As such we've been developing a fairly evolved back story which our clothing is tied into." said Thom. "The Amber Guard are somewhat analageous to the SS or the Russian Comissars."
He gave me pretty free reign on the design, saying he wanted it to mirror the Soviet propaganda posters of the pre- and post WW2 era. We came up with the wording and phrases together, putting a spin on the idea of the Amber Guard being a benevolent force, while actually being something else all together. A mixed message in propaganda? Who's have thought?
I had a blast with this, and went full-tilt boogie with pulling as any Soviet influences as possible. Plans are to produce this as a full size (16" x 24") printed poster in the near future.

Thanks much for the opportunity to design this, Thom. You and your designs do indeed rock!
Sorry. I went off on a junkie tangent: what I meant to say was, could you please help me? I don't where to start looking. Right now I'm only chancing upon relevant material, and that's really not enough to make a honkey tonk with.
for some reason the blimps and spotlights remind me of the game Red Alert.
