2012 WAKE UP POSTER by PaulSizer 2012 WAKE UP POSTER by PaulSizer
A challenge for 2012:
Everyone who says that they dream of a better future needs to wake up and start making that future of their dreams.

Make words into action.
Make plans into projects.
Make desire become fulfillment.

Sitting around and wishing for a better world needs to be replaced with going out and getting your hands dirty and getting stuff accomplished.

We've been entitled enough; let's start earning the future we need.

This poster design and all related characters and logos are ŠPaul Sizer/Cafe Digital Studios, and may not be used without permission of Paul Sizer.

I love both designs but this one gets to the point and leads it's interested party to the door. They are the ones that have to walk through it. I love your choice of Chocolate beauty as your Lady Mech/Tech.

What an inspiring poster! I love the arrangement and all around artistry of the text, and the heroine of the piece illustrates the message beautifully, with her zest and determination. I also love your use of colour - it makes me think that the woman is in a forge. I'm reminded of the "We Can Do It!" Rosie the Riveter poster from WWII.

May I use this as a wallpaper for my computer desktop? I would love to be reminded, each day, that the future requires assemblage (not slack-age!) in order to come to fruition, [:

You don't really even have to go to that extreme; my call is more for a shedding of the entitlement that lots of people have and saying that if you want things to change, you as the person wanting those changes also shoulders a part of the responsibility for making those changes occur.
Thanks!

I was joking, but I see your point.

I never understood people who want to build the Utopia, every time someone tried to do that it never ended up well.

I know you weren't being serious. ; )
Like most things in real life, an amalgam of ideas usually yields stuff that we can actually live with. Our brains and minds are built for dealing with obstacles to some degree; when that's removed is when problems start to occur. When people start to take more responsibility for their own happiness is when they really become happier.

There wore a lot of attempts of making the whole humanity happy and each attempt never turned out well. Maybe if each person will try to make his life better the world might be a better place?

To be honest, I did some thinking and this does not work out all the time. For some people being happy is when all the people he cares about are happy. For some people being happy is when there is no hungry people around him. For some people being happy is when they have an extra zero added to there total amount of money in there wallets. For some is bringing there nation to glory.

The idea of an ideal world and happiness is so complex, but in my opinion, we should find the Utopia in yourself and then it will come to life.

"Change the person. Change the world", as odd as it may sound, I think that statement might be correct.

Agreed; most of the problems we (and by we, I mean American culture) we have regarding personal "happiness" are generated from unrealistic expectations from media and advertising, which is not a condemnation of either. But people are constantly told that they don't need to really have an opinion that's from their own feelings. It's easier to subscribe to someone else's ideas, but generating your own is work, and that's what makes them satisfying to carry them out.

I'm at my most conflicted when I find myself working too hard to meet someone else's expectations. That being said, I do feel that each of us need to take the personal responsibility to set up expectations for ourselves that we really do care about and want to see carried out. The key phrase is "personal responsibility", because in most cases, no one will ask of you what you really need. It's better, in my opinion, to strike out into unexplored territory, and screw up, get smarter and find yourself someplace more interesting that where you started out. It's uncertain, but honestly, that's something that should be wanted by more people.

Yes, having things that are stable and reliable is important, but that also needs to be supplemented with kicking oneself in the butt and asking what needs to be done rather than what's easiest to do.

Thanks for all your feedback, this is a really great conversation. : )

Typographically, yeah, a bit.
Ideologically, it's more "Get off your ass and quit complaining that all your wishes aren't falling in your lap." Dreaming is great, but doing is just, if not more, important. That's a pretty universal truth, not linked to a political viewpoint.
Thanks for the good words!
