After weeks of doing these singel panel exercises for our weekly drawing group meetings, I decided to see whether they had any relationship as sequential storytelling.
I arranged them more for the balance of colors, but I'm curious if people see any linear story elements inter-relating the panels/ What story lurks within these 17 panels?
Any ideas, faithful watchers?
It almost gives me that feeling...like, the movie RENT? I don't know how to put that into words. But it just feels like that. Like life, so widely disparate yet fitting at the same time.
I dunno about a sequence, but I do get a sense of isolation and loneliness throughout. Lots of single figures with sad/pensive expressions, and even when there's two people in the frame, they're never facing or interacting with each other.
With the recent anniversary in mind, I can almost see it as a post-9/11 snapshot, people reacting to the events in various ways -- sad, thoughtful, even hysterical in a couple of spots.
Hmmm. Interesting take. I hadn't really seen that before, but also these were also all done in a coffee shop, with many tables of isolated individuals doing their own thing, so maybe that's why so many of the panels have that kind of vibe.
Or maybe it's my attempt to add depth to my art by going all emo in my subject matter. It's probably a toss-up at this point...

O hey. Wow, it seems like mebbe one event sets off like eight stories and in some shocking twist, they all turn out to be interrelated into one thing, like that movie Crash..
Interesting thought. I think the answer is that any story that comes from these random panels would have to be a real mish-mish that in the end has a common, small link. Maybe all of these people love toast before they go to bed, as the last panel infers.
Good call on Architecture in Helsinki. I found out about them last year, and really dig them as well. You also may want to check out a guy named Erlend Oye, who's latest album is called "Unrest". He also records under the name Whitest Boy Alive and used to be in a band called the Kings of Convenience. Good stuff, I bet you'd like it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
