REMAKE: BLACK ANGEL Poster

For some unexplained reason, over 60,000 people think this is a good poster...
The thing that really impressed me was the sheer amount of comments and dialogue that this poster generated. Lots of thoughtful/heated/smart/stupid/insightful responses to an image. THAT'S the power of art.

B.P.M. Graphic Novel

My latest graphic novel, "B.P.M.", a story of music and what one girl will do to keep it in her life! Check out the first 50 pages for FREE at my main site:

Thanks much to all who have been stopping by to give love to my FUTURE FORWARD poster that made today's Daily Deviation!

It's been so nice to see a ton of new faces stop by the galleries and say hello. I'll try to keep up the good work.

My love for smart girls and science probably all started back in 1983, with the release of this single from Thomas Dolby:

hi there
just wanted to say that i love your work! i really like the look of the older 1940's properganda posters! i like the fact that your work doesnt look over polished like most computer coloured photoshop stuff does, the work looks natural! any tips on inking at all? just wondering, maybe a website you know off?
great work!

Thanks for the nice words. Inking tips, eh? I learned to ink with brush and ink, old school, then moved to inking digitally in MangaStudio, where all my recent work gets inked and pencilled, using a Wacom.

I don't have one site to direct you too, but you could look around DevARt for inkers here who do good work, like Tim Townsend, who inks a lot of Chris Bachalo's work.

I would also suggest going to sites like Penciljack.com and DigitalWebbing.com.
There are lots of tutorials and people who are inkers hanging out there with plenty of tips and questions. Good place to see all kinds of level of inkers working.

Hope that helps!

Learning to ink with a varied line (either with brush or digitally) will help give your figures volume and flow. Once I learned where thick and thin lines added to a drawing, my clothing, fabrics and human forms took on a more volumetric look and feel.
Good luck!

I've always been a fan of crazy propaganda from years past, and your poster style brings new life to the poster...world. Or something. I think propaganda posters are some mix of hilarious, good looking, and frightening. All very interesting things. :D
